“An old Cherokee is teaching his grandson about life. “A fight is going on inside me,” he said to the boy.
“It is a terrible fight, and it is between two wolves. One is evil – he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.” He continued, “The other is good – he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. The same fight is going on inside you – and inside every other person, too.”
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win?”
The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.”
This is a very old allegory, and I am sure many of you have heard it at some point. But I wonder did you really “HEAR” it, did you really “LISTEN”. More importantly, did you hear it just now, as you read it?
Given all that has been and is going on in our world, the challenge to consider is…
Which wolf have you been feeding?
Which wolf do you want to feed?
Which wolf will you focus on feeding from this point forward?
I hope this has been meaningful to you. If you would like to learn more about my new journey please check me out, https://masonvandyke.com/
As I travel this on-going personal path of reflection, I find it helpful, actually needed, that I talk with and learn from others. I would appreciate and love to hear your thoughts on this topic. Please feel free to e-mail me your thoughts, Mason@masonvandyke.com
